In light of our discussions on definitions of digital libraries and the components of a digital library, we would like for you to provide a review of an actual digital library of your choosing. You should spend some time trying to find a quality library that comes close to our criteria for a digital library. Then you should give a review of the library in terms of the components as best you can. Some features should be apparent, but for others you may have to dig into documentation or external sources. For information that you are unable to locate, you might speculate on what might be the case, making clear that you are speculating. Please give thought to what you are finding, how you find it, and concentrate on clarity of presentation. We want you to concentrate on communicating your findings and your thoughts to others in the class. Present your review on a web page that should be linked from you "main" page by sometime Wednesday evening.
As we proceed, we want to accumulate a number of readings that we all have done. To get this started, we would like for everyone to read the following two articles for Thursday.
Vannevar Bush As We May Think (The Atlantic Monthly Volume 176, No. 1, Issue of July 1945, pp. 101-108)
William Y. Arms, Christophe Blanchi, Edward A. Overly An Architecture for Information in Digital Libraries (D-Lib Magazine, February 1997)
